Today was a nice, sunny and nevertheless humid day in Sorrento - what a surprise! Almost no clouds occupied the turquoise sky which seemed to endlessly illuminate the sea, taunting us all as we ate breakfast on the terrace. As everyone started to head to class we loaded up on sunscreen, it was at least 25 degrees in the shade! In the morning the photography class went for a walk up Capo di Monte di Sorrento to take pictures and learn how to take panoramic shots. Meanwhile the Italian class reviewed conditional tenses, walked around town and learned much more about this amazing place we have been calling home for the past couple of days. Classical Civilization learned all about the Godfathers of Rome in an intriguing lecture in the park, all the Italians were apparently watching. During this time the English class explored more exciting poetry on the terrace near the sea and worked on our seminars for Lives of the Saints by Nino Ricci. After class the gorgeous weather drew us all down to soak up some sun, read and cool off in the refreshing Mediterranean Sea. Today also happened to be Miss Stokes' and Andrew's birthday! We all celebrated together with dinner on the terraceand one of the most amazing gnocchi dinners I have ever had. The "band"on the terrace even played the canadian anthem during dinner and we all stood up and sang. To oppose us the Italian anthem came on next and the Italian students joined in to sing alongside the Italians. Entertainment was not on short supply at tonight's dinner, both Phillip and Shaun surprised us all with their dancing skills during dessert. Birthday cake was both delicious and extremely necessary at this evening's meal. Due to Andrew's birthday we were all excited to learn that we had an extended curfew so we went out to explore more of Sorrento and to feed our cravings for gelato! The streets of Sorrento were filled with mimes in unique costumes that captivated all of us. We all went to bed exhausted from our long day and in anticipation of tomorrow. We are so excited for our visit to the Amalfi Coast and Positano tomorrow afternoon! Ciao.
